Meet the Staff

Joel Abraham

Senior Minister

Joel came to faith in Jesus at the age of 19, through his sister, who answered his questions and shared the gospel with him. He is married to Lilia, and they have 3 daughters (contrary to people’s expectations based on his surname).

Joel has the privilege of serving as the Minister of St Stephen’s, and is passionate about seeing people grow in their love of Christ, and of one another. He loves spending time with his family and enjoys all things sport.

Sherilyn Walker

Administrator

Sherilyn grew up in a Christian home living in various NZ towns due to a minister father. Having spent some recent years in hot humid Brisbane, Sherilyn loves being back in the mild and changeable Christchurch climate.  From a background of teaching, teacher aiding and school admin, Sherilyn is now adjusting to life without bells and timetables.

Sherilyn is married to Logan and has 2 grown up children.  She enjoys books (mostly audio now!), gardening, learning, organising and all weathers and seasons!

James Crowther

Youth Worker

Secret Agent. International Man of Mystery. Licence to Kill… whoops, wrong James. This James is none of those things, but he is a youth minister/ personal trainer/ disability support worker.

James grew up at St. Stephen’s Church, but the gospel truly became real to him out of high school. Now he loves to hang out with the youth and talk about Jesus.

Outside of work, James can be found playing touch footy, mixing music, drinking coffee or watching the league.

Molly Behan

Youth Worker

Molly had the privilege of growing up in a home that loved and taught Jesus for which she is very grateful. She has a passion for ministering to youth and teaching and sharing the Gospel with others.

In her spare time she loves music, hand lettering and a good book.

Amy Hayward

Kid’s Worker

Amy is our Children’s worker and is passionate about sharing Christian truths in a clear, engaging and relevant way.  She is grateful she grew up in a Christian home that modeled how to live intentionally for God’s kingdom.

Amy is married to Ben and they have 2 daughters.  She enjoys music, movies, organising, designing and appreciates a good font.

Laura Behan

Intern

Laura is currently undertaking a two year internship with St. Stephens, focusing on kids, youth, and young adults. She is enjoying attending her training courses, and learning from older and wiser christians.

Laura enjoys coffee, watching movies, reading, a good tv show, listening to music, philosophical conversations and being sarcastic. Always.
